President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light to establish the Federal University of Sports in Afuze, Edo State. This exciting development was announced by Samson Akhanieme, Chief Press Secretary of the House of Representatives, on February 11, 2025.
The new university is expected to provide a world-class platform for Nigerian youths to shine in both sports and academics. This will not only boost Nigeria’s competitiveness in international sports competitions but also create jobs, promote specialized training, and enhance sports business.
The National Assembly has commended President Tinubu for his swift approval of the bill, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to education and sports development in Nigeria. Special recognition was also given to Professor Julius Ihonvbere, who tirelessly advocated for the bill’s passage.
