The Owan Association of Houston Volunteers at God’s Garden to Support Local Food Relief
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, members of the Owan Association of Houston (OAH) rolled up their sleeves to give back to the Houston community through a volunteer session at God’s Garden.
God’s Garden plays a vital role in local hunger relief by growing and supplying a wide variety of fresh vegetables to food shelters across the Houston area. To support their mission, OAH chose the farm as a key service project to help clear weeds and prepare the soil for upcoming vegetable planting.
The volunteer efforts kicked off with Dr. Agbondelegbe and his children, who were the first to serve on the farm. A few days later, on March 21, he was joined by OAH President Mr. Osaretin Ojeiduma and Board Member Mrs. Catherine Obasuyi for an intensive, non-stop weeding session lasting over three hours.
The President of God’s Garden was super impressed with the remarkable volume and exceptional quality of work completed by the team. Following the farm work, OAH leaders took time to share the story of the Owan people of Nigeria, highlighting their rich cultural heritage, strong work ethic, and dedication to uplifting the communities where they live.
OAH remains committed to fostering community partnerships and making a tangible impact through hands-on service.
